@hhedberg Nor do I see
the wisdom. It's not like they didn't know the launch was about to
happen or anything either.
@andy80 Yes, so all of us
who got the developer discount apparently have to sit and wait
while end users get theirs, leaving IT2008 with... well... pretty
much no developers porting apps.
What sucks about this is that I'm not the type of person that
gets wound up about stuff like this. Release dates slip, things get
pushed back, shit happens. That's all fine and good, but for them
to hype it to us and basically use us 500 to hype it more and then
not be able to get the promised discount when the actual device
ships... just feels like a big slap in the face. Honestly, I'm
really really discouraged right now.
Ok, I'm confused. Quim promised you guys a discount. I don't
think he's going to go back on that. I think you guys should
approach him with this. I'll bet he'll find a way to make things
right.
I'm hoping it turns out to be the sort of
misunderstanding/miscommunication for which the mothership is
(in)famous...
What's more frustrating is that we can't use the discount in
person at the Nokia flagship stores. Why not? Why didn't they pull
the first 500 devices off the assembly line and setup a web portal
for us to buy them there, or a secret code to use the regular
site?
There's tons of ways that this could have been done to actually
reward the 500. Now we're almost being punished, really.
Just to clarify, the problem is that the N810 are available to
buy now at several places such as the Nokia flagship stores and
other places, however not at Nokia's online store, which is the
only place we can redeem our coupons. Worse still is that we can't
even preorder because the coupons come up on the site with $0
value.
I don't like to complain about these sort of things especially
since Nokia doesn't have to offer these discounts at all and
certainly not to me specifically. It just feels like we're
handcuffed while everyone else gets to have all the fun.
Quim appears to be a standup honest kind of guy. I don't
question his word or his intentions whatsoever. He says we'll get
it, I know we'll get it. It's just somewhat worrying when there's
been no explanation or news about the discounts at all since we
were sent our codes and now it's out in the wild.
I'm almost certain it would be a mothership error and that it's
nothing that Quim himself has any control over or can take blame
for.

It will arrive about on 26 or 27 of this month. We only have to wait :)

Feels like they have some problems with the OS2008...

That can't be it because N810's are already on sale pretty much everywhere else except Nokia's online store.

Interesting. I do not see any wisdom to sell devices to end users before developers have got their devices.
At least they pushed back the release of the OS 2008 for N800, since it was promised to arrive at the same time with the N810.

Sorry everyone... just needed to vent. ;)

All of these are questions and concerns for Quim.

Yeah, I know... and I'm pretty sure he's already been asked or knows about it so I'm not going to bother the guy.
